Showing Up

Last couple of months I couldn’t walk without pain. Yesterday, I squatted & deadlifted with a barbell again.
Yesterday, it was legday in the gym.
All the strengths in the compound exercise dropped by 30-40%, But I am happy as ever.
This is very unlike of me, as every week I obsess over matching or surpassing strength of last week.
Today, I am happy even after losing so much strength.
Because, It is exactly after 1 month that I have put weight into the bar.
Early last month, I had to stop training legs- because of a hip injury that happened in october.
The injury started small, but each day it aggravated. Every time I got up from sitting position, i had a shooting pain in the hip. Even walking got very uncomfortable. Simple everyday tasks like getting in & out of car or rickshaw became excruciatingly painful.
Every other day, I had to go to the therapist.
But, after a month of therapy, my therapist told that- my mobility has improved to the point that I can start training my legs in gym again.
I am so happy to resume leg training.
One of my athlete friends taught me a very important lesson:
That “95% of all progress comes from just showing up and following up”
He learnt it from his coach.
Yes, I know all my strength numbers have tanked.
But, all that maters is, do I show up. If I never miss a leg workout, I know getting back to old strength levels is just a matter of time. Just a few weeks of hanging in there.
I am writing this to remind myself.
No need to overcomplicate things.
If I show up and follow-up- just by putting one foot in front of another . I can get there.
