My daughter , Mahira is 7 month old .
Every time she sees any new type of light/ lamp – she is amazed.
Every time a rickshaw/motor-cycle passes her- she is amazed. She cheers for every passing vehicle in the road.
Every time when she cries, I take her to our washroom and turn the water tap on. I am always amazed that she instantly stops crying and looks at astonishment at the simple sight of water falling from the tap.
She is amazed when she is inside the mosquito net at night .
She is amazed when she sees other little babies.
Her eyes pop-off seeing the sight of other babies and she wants to adore them with her hand.
She often looks at her hands as if she discovered something new, with a complete astonishment.
It is such a pleasure to see her being amazed at the smallest of thing.
There is a french word “Joie de vivre”, which means the joy in simple things in life. I think, babies are gifted with this natural ability to find wonder and joy in simple things in life. They naturally perceive the beauty and magic of the world with their fresh eyes. But, we adults unlearn it, as we age. It is such a joy, to see the world through a newborn’s eyes.
